Design Tide in Tokyo 2005 official entry program

Pic-nic in the Room

by Anthony Kleinepier / TTTVO & Pinaree Sanpitak + Guests

Nov.2-23, 2005

Art-U room is pleased to announce a joint exhibition-event, 'Pic-nic in the Room', by Dutch designers unit Anthony Kleinepier/TTTVO and Thai artist Pinaree Sanpitak.

Anthony Kleinepier and TTTVO, two designers based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, started to present their products together since the end of 2002 and have exhibited in important designer's events worldwide such as Salone Internazionale de Mobile in Milan and Tokyo Designers Block. Their creation, presented in a mixed arrangement of objects that recalls a certain stage setting, challenges people's conformist idea about interior design and urges the spectator to take an autonomous behavior in this alternative environment.

Pinaree Sanpitak, a female artist based in Bangkok, is playing an active part in today's Thai art scene. Her work has seen its development along the axis of femininity and often incorporates 'Breast's forms in her paintings and installations. In recent works she is showing an increasing interest in interactive factor, which invites the audience to intervene through physical or other ways of contact. At this exhibition, she shows her latest work 'breast-fruite' and organizes cookery projects by using breast-shaped cooking molds.

'Pic-nic in the Room' held as an official event of Design Tide 2005 includes also a series of events hosted by invited guests from various fields; chef, musician, DJ and others.
